First thing you need is commitment. Actually, that's the second of the first 2 things. The main and most important you need to have is a reliable fast internet service provider that won't fail you and your client/s. Depending on what type of online job you want to take on as there could be dozens of skills you can provide to a client. For example, if you are offering customer service, most clients would ask you to be online on a certain time frame.
For starters though, and those who don't have any experience working online, and you have no clue which category you would dare take, I would start with the Virtual Assistant category. As long as you can navigate any internet browser nor can simply browse the web, that's where your research skill could take off. If you are good on thinking of keywords then you can be an online research expert in no time.
There are so many categories you can choose from but depending on your skill/s. Before you even go deciding on which category you would choose, make use of your time making your online profile. Putting yourself out there for clients to see is actually free. You don't need to pay someone to do your resume or online profile either. If you can't make your own website try signing up on those freelance websites. Just Google "freelance site" it should give you answers on sites that you can sign up on for bidding on projects.
By the way this blog about working online is just a new blog I am personally working on and due to heavy workload I have, I barely have the time to write, it's just so happens I am free for an hour and I got that urge to write. I will elaborate more tomorrow. Thanks for reading my thoughts today...
